KINDERGARTEN CURRICULUM
Kindergarten students are currently working on the following Georgia Standards of Excellence:
ELA/Reading:
ELAGSEKRF1: Demonstrates understanding of the organization and basic features of print.
ELAGSEKRF2: Demonstrates understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes).
ELAGSEKRF3: Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
ELAGSEKRF4: Read common high-frequency words by sight: read emergent reader texts with purpose and understanding
ELAGSEKRI5: Identify the front cover, back cover, and title page of a book.
ELAGSEKRI7: With prompting and support, describe the relationship between illustrations and the text.
Math:
MGSEK.G.1: Describe objects in the environment using names of shapes, and describe the relative positions of these objects using terms such as above, below, beside, in front of, behind.
MGSEK.G.2: Correctly name shapes regardless of their orientations or overall size.
MGSEK.G.3: Identify shapes as two-dimensional (lying in a plane, "flat") or three-dimensional ("solid").
MGSEK.G.4: Analyze and compare two- and three- dimensional shapes in different sizes and orientations. (similarities and differences)
MGSEK.G.5: Model shapes in the world by building shapes from components and drawing shapes.
MGSE1.G.1: Distinguish between defining attributes (triangles are closed and three-sided) versus non-defining attributes (color, size)
MGSEK.G.6: Compose simple shapes to form larger shapes
MGSEK.MD.3: Classify objects into given categories (sorting)
